I will say that not many of these are younger kid-friendly because some cover very heavy topics that might not be child appropriate. If you’re planning on using these for family movie night, be sure and do further research to make sure it will be a great watch for your kiddo. For tweens/teens and some older kids, they would be great.

I Can Only Imagine
“I Can Only Imagine” is a powerful and inspiring film based on the true story behind the popular Christian song by MercyMe. I just love true stories! The movie follows the life of Bart Millard, the band’s lead singer, as he overcomes a troubled childhood marked by an abusive father. Through faith and music, Bart finds healing and forgiveness, ultimately penning the hit song that touches millions.
Overcomer
“Overcomer” is a sports drama that tells the story of high school teacher and basketball coach John Harrison, whose team faces an uncertain future when the town’s largest manufacturing plant shuts down, forcing many families to move away. With his team’s prospects dwindling, John reluctantly agrees to coach cross-country, a sport he knows little about.

The Cokeville Miracle
This was a seriously good movie. I hadn’t read much about the storyline before watching it, and was laser focused on the screen the entire time. It was such a rollercoaster and action filled movie that both breaks your heart and then puts it back together at the end.
“Cookeville Miracle” is a true story set in the small town of Cookeville, Tennessee. The film follows the community as they face the true events of a horrific day and come together through the power of faith and prayer. As the townspeople unite in their beliefs, they witness a series of extraordinary events that to this day bring hope and renewal to the lives of those involved.
The Blind
If you’ve ever watched Duck Dynasty, you’ll love this one. “The Blind” tells the true story of Phil Robertson, the founder of Duck Commander, and his journey from a troubled past to a life of faith and redemption. The film shows Phil’s early struggles with alcohol and his sinful relationships, leading to a turning point where he finds salvation and turns around his life.

Despite the challenges, Jeremy and Melissa’s faith and love for each other remain strong. Inspiring viewers to hold on to hope through life’s toughest moments, this is a real tear jerker!
The Second Chance
In this movie, we meet two pastors from very different backgrounds. Ethan Jenkins is a successful pastor at a wealthy church, while Jake Sanders leads a struggling inner-city church. When Ethan is sent to work with Jake, he experiences a world unlike his own.
Both men learn important lessons about compassion, humility, and what it really means to serve others. It’s a great film about the real world with a Christian theme.
Letters to God

This is not your uplifting, feel good inspirational movie. But it is a very important film to watch to bring awareness to our very broken world. It is a gripping true crime drama that tells the story of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, a Philadelphia abortion doctor whose clinic was the site of numerous illegal and unethical practices.
The film follows the investigation and trial that led to his conviction for the murder of three infants who were born alive and subsequently killed, as well as numerous other charges. Through the eyes of the investigators, journalists, and legal teams involved, this movie exposes the shocking truths behind the case and the systemic failures that allowed such atrocities to occur.
Heaven is For Real
“Heaven Is for Real” is another true story about a young boy named Colton Burpo who has a near-death experience and claims to visit heaven. After surviving emergency surgery, Colton shares vivid details of his journey, describing things he couldn’t have known. His father, a pastor, grapples with disbelief but is ultimately moved by his son’s profound revelations. The film explores themes of faith, family, and the mysteries of the afterlife, offering a compelling look at one family’s encounter with the extraordinary.
Courageous
This film follows the lives of four police officers who face challenges both on the job and at home. Unbroken: Path to Redemption

The Passion of the Christ

This one is the most kid-friendly movie in this list. It is a true story about Bethany Hamilton, a teenage surfer who loses her arm in a shark attack. Despite this life-changing event, Bethany’s determination and faith help her overcome the odds and return to competitive surfing. The film beautifully showcases her journey of resilience, courage, and the support of her family and friends. “Soul Surfer” is not only an uplifting tale of personal triumph but also a great movie for kids, as it promotes the best picture about perseverance, faith, and the power of never giving up on your dreams.
Miracles from Heaven
“Miracles from Heaven” is an uplifting and family-friendly true story about a young girl named Anna Beam who suffers from a rare, incurable digestive disorder. After a freak accident, Anna experiences a miraculous healing that defies medical explanation. The film follows the Beam family as they navigate the challenges of Anna’s illness, their unwavering faith, and the incredible events that lead to her recovery.
Sound of Freedom
Another one that might not be the most uplifting or inspiring, but is an important watch. I don’t think the box office knew this one would be such a popular movie. Be prepared for a very heavy heart after viewing this one. “Sound of Freedom” is a gripping and powerful film based on the true story of Tim Ballard, a former Homeland Security agent who embarks on a mission to rescue children from human trafficking.
The film follows Tim as he quits his job to dedicate his life to saving innocent lives, facing immense danger and numerous obstacles along the way. The movie shines a light on the dark world of child trafficking and underscores the importance of courage, determination, and faith in fighting for justice.
On a Wing and a Prayer
“On a Wing and a Prayer” is an inspiring true story about Doug White, a man who takes on the unimaginable task of safely landing a plane after the pilot unexpectedly dies mid-flight. It takes a while for this faith-based drama to pick up actino, but once it does it’s fantastic. With no flying experience, Doug must rely on his faith, determination, and the guidance of air traffic controllers to bring his family to safety. The film captures the intense moments of crisis and the incredible strength of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
Conclusion
There are truly some great faith-based movies out there! Some of these I’ve seen on the big screen and some in the comfort of my own home. Either way, they were fantastic to view. I hope you found your new must-watch movie.
